Jan Suraaj Overseas was founded in early 2024 by a group of passionate overseas Biharis and friends of Bihar who could no longer remain bystanders to the challenges facing their homeland. Despite being thousands of miles away, our connection to Bihar—a land rich in culture, heritage, and human potential—remained strong. Years of neglect and limited opportunities only deepened our resolve to contribute meaningfully.
We believe real transformation begins not with grand gestures, but with honest intent, collaboration, and hope. That belief gave rise to Jan Suraaj Overseas—not just an organization, but a movement committed to bridging the gap between the global Bihari community and Bihar’s grassroots realities.
By sharing knowledge, mobilizing resources, and supporting impactful local initiatives, we seek to build a future, rooted in empowerment, transparency, and sustainable development. Jan Suraaj Overseas is a call to action for those who believe Bihar deserves better—and that together, we can help shape that future.

Jan Suraaj Overseas is a Not-for-Profit organisation and a global initiative led by Biharis and well-wishers of Bihar living outside India. We harness the collective strength, experience, and expertise of the diaspora to support Bihar’s growth into a leading Indian state.
We focus on enabling changemakers and fostering meaningful cross-border collaboration in the critical development areas of education, agriculture, public health and wellness, environment, ecology and water management, industrial development for job creation, administrative reforms for good governance, civic awareness and preservation of culture and heritage.
Our approach is rooted in mentorship, knowledge exchange, research, innovation, and inclusive partnerships—all guided by the values of service, unity, and non-partisan progress.
We are a global community of socially conscious Biharis—professionals, academics, researchers, entrepreneurs, students, and changemakers—bound by a shared commitment to our heritage and a desire to give back with purpose.
Jan Suraaj Overseas serves as a platform to connect the global Bihari diaspora with transformative initiatives in Bihar. We:
Offer mentorship and strategic guidance to local leaders, policy makers, organizations, change agents and other stakeholders
Facilitate collaboration between diaspora experts and grassroots efforts
